A Creative Journey
Bringing Art and Design learning experiences to the classroom
ArtWheels is Art-focused, student-centred and school-based, maximising learning and putting the creative arts in the heart of the school community.
I am a highly experienced, innovative and creative Art Teacher, thoroughly immersed in UK and International curricula having taught in the UK and Singapore across ages 3-18. With a proven track record of constructing learning experiences that are engaging, relevant and challenging, I truly believe, as Picasso said that
'Every child is an artist '.
As an educator my aim is to always create a love of Art, to weave the magic of creativity into everyday life where teaching is inherently personalised, inspires students' intellectual curiosity and links to the school curriculum.
I offer dynamic, inquiry-based workshops with a commitment to facilitating students' creative responses, independent thinking and progression. Student outcomes are then displayed in an exhibition where their work is valued and celebrated.
In an ever-changing world it is vital we empower students to develop creative skills, knowledge and a clear sense of purpose.
And most importantly we have fun!
Take a look at our dot making!
'Just make a mark and see where it takes you....'
At IDEA ELC Dubai, I had the privilege of celebrating 'International Dot Day' with FS2. After reading the story together, students made their own creative dots through drawing, cutting, printing, stamping and spinning! They all learnt about the primary colours and how we can make a secondary colour from mixing two primary colours.
What a wonderful exploration of 'making a mark'!
What can you expect from an ArtWheels workshop?
An ArtWheels workshop is school-based, maximising time and putting the creative arts in the heart of the school community.
A one hour workshop aims to explore a chosen aspect of the current curriculum, introduce a new art skill or technique and develop students knowledge and understanding about relevant artists, craftspeople and designers.
I encourage an experimental approach to work where students are nurtured to express their ideas clearly and with confidence!
I differentiate work through approach and outcome and I enjoy challenging preconceived ideas about 'what is Art?'.
Year 3 - Artwork in a Cave !
Such an important part of making Art!
It is always a pleasure to exhibit student artwork in the school environment, to celebrate learning, creative outcomes and generate vibrant learning environments.
Exhibiting student artwork is so important for well-being and that wonderful sense of pride and achievement!
