The Natural World
This project explored artists that had incorporated their art into the landscape such as Andy Goldsworthy. Students used natural resources such as pine cones and seeds to create artworks. They pressed shells in air drying clay and made 'flowers wands'.
They also responded to Eric Carle's story of the 'Tiny Seed' and created their own mixed media 'flower'.
Life cycles
As part of an animal theme, students recreated the life cycle of a frog whilst exploring different painting techniques. They made a 3D tadpole, painted a lily pad in the style of Monet and a frog in an Aboriginal pointillist style.
Water
Water has been a source of inspiration for many artists and it is a resource that we use in Art. Students designed their own seascapes/waves (Maggi Hambling), swimming pools (Hockney), lily pads (Monet) and reflections (Van Gogh); developing their skills such as using scissors, painting and mixing colours and using their imagination!
